Kankanba Farm is more than just a farm; it's a passion-driven initiative that aims to promote sustainable agriculture, education, and youth empowerment. Founded in 1998 by Dr Musa Touray, the farm provides a platform for volunteers to work alongside the community, learn about sustainable agriculture, and contribute to the development of the local area.
Volunteering at Kankanba Farm is an opportunity to immerse yourself in Gambian culture and learn new skills. As a volunteer, you will have the chance to work alongside local farmers, planting and harvesting a range of crops, including vegetables and seasonal fruit. You can learn about farming methods and sustainable agriculture practices that are critical to the long-term success of farmers. All volunteers are highly welcome; the exchange of knowledge is highly appreciated. We also encourage individuals with experience in the agricultural field to join us in creating better techniques to improve the future of farming in the Gambia!
In addition to farming, volunteers can get involved in a range of activities, such as animal care for sheep, chickens and cows, tractor operations, maintenance and renovation work, beekeeping and more. There is plenty of work to go around!
The farm is just a 20-minute drive from the beautiful Sanyang beach, so after a long day of work, volunteers can relax in this serene scenery.
