Located in Fajara, they are famous for their beautiful ambience, friendly staff, fantastic food, big portions and a wide choice of vegetarian (and vegan) dishes. In addition, they are very flexible when it comes to customers' needs - you can always ask for those small changes that matter when ordering a meal.
Sheriff Sambou is the head chef of YOSH Restaurant. His perseverance, consistency, hard work, and diligence add an important value to the restaurant. He was trained at a local skill centre as a cook, after which he worked at a local restaurant for a few years before coming to Yosh in 2018. He is an excellent listener to their customers and always makes sure that all wishes and needs are satisfied.
In addition to delicious food, we like Yosh restaurant because of their constant support of Gambian musicians, artists, entrepreneurs, start-ups, fashion designers, and event organisers. There is always something happening at Yosh!
And every year, they organise Christmas Bazaar weekend displaying beautiful made-in-the-Gambia products and services. It is a great event where you can buy souvenirs, jewellery, fabrics, natural products, shoes, clothes, and so much more.
If you plan to come to The Gambia at the beginning of December, don't miss this year's Christmas Bazaar. It is an entire fun weekend for families, friends, and visitors. The exact date will be announced on their social media.
YOSH is on our list of the restaurants we visit regularly. You can find more than 50 dishes on their menu, and prices are affordable.
Some of our favourite meals are prawn and coconut milk green curry; garlic sauteed vegetables, coconut prawns, Vietnamese mixed vegetables stir-fried noodles, chicken breast stuffed with shrimps served with fresh ginger and fried rice.
The restaurant is open from Monday to Saturday from 11 am to 11 pm. Usually, they are closed on Sundays and public holidays unless they have a group reservation. They do birthday, wedding, catering services, (business) lunch and dinner.
