The Butcher's Shop - Celebrating 30 years of Excellence

My Magazine 2023/04
2 min
The Butcher's Shop perfectly combines excellent food, rustic elegance, great location and top-notch service. Chic by day and romantic by night, it is a blend of bistro and casual dining with a classic contemporary menu drawing flavours from around the world. It is one of the few restaurants in The Gambia with vegan and gluten-free options and an extensive range of liquors.

As the name implies, The Butcher's Shop did indeed start life as a butchery and delicatessen on 16th March 1993 by Driss Bensouda, providing fresh, local, organic and free-range meats together with dairy products and cured meats. Over time, it tentatively ventured into serving sandwiches, breakfasts and lunches. As its popularity grew, The Butcher's Shop expanded its dining area by adding a deck and soon moved on to provide evening meals. It is also famous for its desserts and Sunday brunches and is open for late-night drinks.

At The Butchers Shop, they take great pride in their products and services. They are renowned for their high standard of homegrown fresh products, emphasising organic and wholesome ingredients. Prices are above average but offer excellent value for money. Mastercard, Visa, Credit Cards and Digital Payments are possible, making it very convenient for visitors to The Gambia. It has wheelchair access and also provides highchairs for your little ones. It is the perfect place for celebrations or hanging out with your families, friends or colleague

The owner, Mr Driss Bensouda, is attentive and well-versed in good living and fine dining. He usually welcomes you, oversees your meal, and ensures you're being cared for. He has assured that even after 30 years, the Butcher's standards and values are maintained.

The Butcher's Shop thrives on a passionate commitment to providing the very best dining options in a homey yet chic and comfortable ambience while maintaining a casual, relaxed vibe.

While celebrating 30 years of Excellence, we at My Gambia wish Mr Bensouda many more successful years of The Butcher's Shop.
