TAF CITY - the Future of Sustainable Living in The Gambia

My Magazine 2023/04
6 min
With TAF City, a new concept of urban planning was introduced to The Gambia. The fully functional pre-planned 15-minute city: all facilities such as hospitals, schools, shops and malls, as well as entertainment such as clubs, a cinema, nature park and more will be accessible to residents of TAF City within no more than a 15-minute drive. The 500-hectare city is divided into different clusters, with ten residential estates, two of which are already built and sold out.

At TAF City, everyone is believed to deserve a home that reflects their style and preferences. As a buyer, you are completely free to choose plot size and housing style. With an impressive catalogue of 11 house models ranging from cozy 2 bedroom bungalows to spacious 2-storey apartment duplexes, everyone will surely find something they like. Once a choice is made, TAF’s engineers and builders get to work on creating a beautiful home. A lovely feature is the placement of various fruit trees in each backyard; everything from mangoes to starfruit, oranges, lemons and much more will be shared within the community. A retirement village for the elderly is also part of the great master plan.

But that’s not all! TAF City also plans on being sustainable with its own agricultural cluster consisting of horticulture, animal husbandry and aquaculture. This stems from Uncle Taf’s vision for Africans to eat what they grow and grow what they eat. Another unique feature of TAF City is its use of renewable energy. The city will be partially powered by solar energy, reducing its reliance on traditional energy sources such as fossil fuels. This not only helps to reduce the carbon footprint of the city but also provides a reliable source of energy that is not affected by power outages, as they often occur in The Gambia.

TAF City is also designed with advanced technology that enhances the quality of life for its residents. The city will be equipped with state-of-the-art security systems, such as a passcode-activated gate at the entrance of the estates.

The development of TAF City is expected to impact the economy of The Gambia significantly. The project is estimated to create over 5,000 jobs during its construction phase and provide employment opportunities for thousands of people once it is completed. The city also attracts foreign investment and therefore promotes economic growth in the country.

TAF Africa Global has a strong track record in sustainable development. The company has previously developed eco-friendly projects in other African countries, including Nigeria. The company's focus on sustainable development has earned it a reputation as a leader in eco-friendly and socially responsible development.

Evidently, the development of TAF City is a significant milestone for The Gambia and the African continent as a whole. It showcases the potential of sustainable development to promote economic growth while also protecting the environment. TAF City is a model for future urban development, providing a blueprint for eco-friendly and socially responsible cities of the future.

Don't miss out on the fantastic opportunity to be part of the Gambia's first smart city. Schedule your visit to TAF City today and watch your dream home become a reality!
