The rich traditions and culture of the ethnic groups living in The Gambia are one of the most interesting aspects of the travel for a curious explorer who does not want to stick only to the pool next to the resort one stays in but is ready to embrace and soak in the sun on the dusty paths leading deep inside the country. Connecting with the communities and learning about their different yet common beliefs, displays, and masking traditions is one of the main elements of the yearly Kankurang Festival in Janjanbureh.
The 7th edition of the festival is scheduled from the 26th to the 28th of January 2024! And we are ready for it as it is one of the most anticipated cultural festivals in the country. And more so, because we at My Gambia join it with the activities along the way to Janjanbureh and experience the authentic countryside, village life and unspoilt natural jewels of The Gambia.
We are joining two beloved products in one – responsible community-based travel through The Ninki Nanka Trail and the cultural bonanza of the Kankurang Festival. Three days and two nights of feeling freedom, joy and togetherness through the celebration of mystical traditions is waiting for you!
