The ISCA Cricket League 2024 began with great enthusiasm but was marked by a sombre moment as The Unstoppables team decided to withdraw following the sudden passing of their key player, Kishan Roopchandani, last month. This gesture was a heartfelt tribute to their dear friend and teammate.
From the first ball to the final wicket, the tournament was a display of thrilling performances. Swami India emerged as the champions, with Bhumika XI putting up a formidable fight to become the runners-up. The grand finale on June 23rd was a testament to the dedication, hard work, and passion that all teams brought to the league.
The league showcased an exhilarating T-15-over format, featuring twelve competing teams (in alphabetical order):
Baba's Superstars
Banjul Oxygen by Comafrique
Bhumika XI
Fajara Knight Riders
Friends Warriors
Gacem Steel Gambia Warriors
J Balaji Kings
Jimpex Tigers
Kutch Eleven

Each team brought their A-game to the field, turning every match into a spectacle of skill, strategy, and sportsmanship.
The matches were held at the Swami India Paradise Estate Grounds in Old Yundum and the MRC Grounds in Fajara. Over ten Sundays, cricket enthusiasts gathered to witness the spirit of competition and camaraderie that prevailed throughout the tournament.
The Cricket Sub-Committee's tireless efforts ensured that every aspect of the event was meticulously organized, contributing significantly to the tournament's success. Their dedication to promoting cricket and fostering a sense of community among participants and spectators was evident throughout the league.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the sponsors and members whose unwavering support made this event possible. Their contributions were instrumental in creating an environment where cricket could thrive and where players could showcase their talents.
The ISCA Cricket League 2024 not only celebrated the passion for cricket but also reinforced the spirit of unity and community within The Gambia’s Indian diaspora.
