Welcome to May's issue of My Magazine.
We are creating our monthly magazine to help you to plan your vacation. In a country this size, you may be surprised at just how much there is to see and do. Enjoy the beautiful photos, videos, and engaging articles to learn about the people, the culture, experiences, outdoor adventure, and ideas for tours. Tips of the month, fruits, vegetables, recipes, health tips and much more are delivered to you directly from the people living in The Gambia. Don’t forget to take a look at the events and festivals schedules. Again, we’ve explored some incredible places and experiences to inspire you to enjoy them.
Epidemic, low season and The Gambia being empty of visitors make it really hard for thousands of people who have been directly and indirectly involved in the tourism industry. It is extremely sad to see empty or closed restaurants, hotels and lodges, places, and other sightseeing spots. And it is even more heart-breaking when you speak with people who lost their jobs or are working half of the month for half their salary.
But we should not lose hope now. We have to think of solutions, stay confident and focus on promoting The Smiling Coast. We need to boost domestic tourism, attract people from neighbour countries, and spread the message that The Gambia is open for visitors who adhere to the health and safety measures of the airlines and The Gambia. It is also important to know that many accommodation providers received a licence from GTB for fulfilling all health and safety protocols and are welcoming guests during these trying times.
Please help us spread a positive message worldwide, contribute to domestic tourism, support vendors, tell your friends about The Gambia, and inspire tourists who come here to always be curious and adventurous to explore by going out to see what the local people have to offer. In doing so, we have many chances to make a difference.
Love from The Gambia.
