Reforest The Future Gambia is a women-led initiative founded in 2019 by Isatou Ceesay under Women’s Initiative Gambia. Based in Njau, it combats deforestation, land degradation, and food insecurity through agroforestry, tree planting, and environmental education. The project runs nurseries producing up to 15,000 indigenous and edible trees yearly, partners with schools and communities for reforestation, and trains farmers in sustainable land regeneration methods. With plans to build a learning centre and expand across The Gambia and Senegal, the initiative aims to restore ecosystems, improve food security, and create hope and livelihoods in the face of climate change.
