Ida’s Home Cooking offers a truly immersive experience into Gambian culture through its signature Gambian Home Cooking Day.
The journey begins when the guests head to Ida’s home, where they will have the opportunity to dress in traditional Gambian attire; skirts, blouses, and headdresses for women, and colorful shirts for men. In the kitchen, guests will learn the art of slow-cooking a traditional Gambian meal, such as the beloved one-pot dish, Benachin. This cooking process provides ample time for meaningful conversation, playing local games, and engaging in cultural exchange.
After the meal is prepared, everyone gathers to enjoy the delicious dish together, in a communal manner at a relaxed atmosphere. The experience is designed to be intimate and engaging, we can accommodate large groups of guests, ensuring personalized attention and a memorable cultural experience.
At our new location in Tujareng Tintinto, we’ve embraced the "Village Concept", which promotes sustainable living and practices. Our garden, where many of the ingredients are grown, ensures that every meal is not only fresh but also rooted in healthy, locally sourced produce.
Join us at Ida’s Home Cooking for a fun, educational, and culturally enriching experience that will leave you with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation of Gambian cuisine and traditions.
