Horticultural Garden and Farm Stay Volunteer Program

Adama Jarju’s Horticultural Garden and Farm Stay Volunteer Program

Adama Jarju’s Horticultural Garden and Farm Stay Volunteer Program

Adama Jarju’s Horticultural Garden and Farm Stay Volunteer Program offers a hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture, cultural exchange, and community development. Officially registered on 4th October 2021, the garden's journey began in 2018, inspired by Adama's dedication to supporting his father during a challenging time. What started with groundnuts and cassava soon grew into a thriving garden, where Adama's passion for farming flourished, despite setbacks such as the loss of banana plants in 2022.

In June 2025, the volunteer program was launched, allowing local and international volunteers to engage in daily farm activities, cultural exchange, and community outreach. Volunteers participate in gardening, cooking traditional meals, and supporting local schools, contributing to education and community empowerment. Additionally, they help with the local football club, fostering leadership and life skills among youth.

Adama’s vision is to transform the garden into an eco-tourism and development center, continuing his father's legacy. Future plans include building traditional huts, a juice bar, and a multi-purpose hall for workshops and community activities. This program offers a transformative experience for volunteers while strengthening ties between the garden and the wider community, promoting sustainability and cultural understanding.
