We will pick you up at the place of your stay.
Your adventure begins at Sukuta - approximately 20 minutes drive from the main tourist areas.
Musa will introduce two traditional fabric dyeing methods: batik and tie-dye. You will participate in both processes from the first to the last step while enjoying an authentic community environment. You will not only learn about the traditional skill of dyeing the fabric but will also be able to experience the daily life of a Gambian family. After traditional lunch, you will go home with a beautiful souvenir that will remind you of a unique experience.
We will drop you off at the place of your stay.
You can decide on the location where the workshop will be taking place - in Musa's workshop or family home. You can also decide on the colours you want to use. The workshop usually takes about 4 hours, but if you decide on a more demanding product making, the workshop time can be extended.
For the workshop to be effective, the maximum number of attendees should not exceed 6.
Musa is trained in batik and tie&dye methods of material dyeing. He is the person behind all batik-dyed materials used in costume design for the movie The Woman King, which was released in September 2022.
Today, only a few people still pursue these skills, which was one of the main reasons for Musa to revive the tradition and start training for Gambian youth and visitors of The Gambia.
We do believe it's time for another adventure. Don't spend all of your time in The Gambia in one place. Go out and explore! There are so many beautiful experiences waiting for you. Let us help you pick one - and take care of all the rest.
