FAQ

Can we adjust the activity?

You can decide on the location where the workshop will be taking place - in Musa's workshop or family home. You can also decide on the colours you want to use. The workshop usually takes about 4 hours, but if you decide on a more demanding product making, the workshop time can be extended.

What is the maximum number of people for group tour?

For the workshop to be effective, the maximum number of attendees should not exceed 6.

Learn more about the process of batik making

Batik is a traditional technique of dyeing the material using wax to create various patterns. The process can be complicated when using more than one dye colour to create complex designs, as layers of wax must be removed and reapplied to achieve the wanted design.

OFFERED BY

Musa

Musa is trained in batik and tie&dye methods of material dyeing. He is the person behind all batik-dyed materials used in costume design for the movie The Woman King, which was released in September 2022.

Today, only a few people still pursue these skills, which was one of the main reasons for Musa to revive the tradition and start training for Gambian youth and visitors of The Gambia.
