Weather in March

My Magazine 2022/03
2 min
Because of its subtropical climate, Gambia only has two climate seasons: dry and rainy. March is still one of the months in the dry season therefore it is very enjoyable since midday temperatures can still reach very high, but the evenings become cooler and breathable. Although it is not considered as one of the top season months, March is one of the months of the year with the best weather.

The days are long, up to 12 hours and there is an average of 9 hours of sunshine per day. It is very important to take all possible precautions since the sun is very hot in the hours from 11 am to 3 pm. Do seek shade at this time of the day and do not forget to apply your sun cream. The highest temperatures can be over 33°C although the average is about 22°C. The evenings are cooler, with an average of 19°C so make sure to come with long sleeves.

In March, you will not be bothered by the rain since the chances of it raining is less than 1%. You will still be able to enjoy the sea, but the temperatures are not the highest. With its 21°C on average, the sea is attractive to those, who enjoy the cool water.

In the coastal areas, a soft breeze can be felt many times and it can develop to the stronger wind, especially in the evening. Inland, there is almost no wind, which makes the temperatures always stay higher.
