Weather in April

My Magazine 2022/04
1 min
April is another month with enjoyable climate conditions. A lot of sunshine hours, high temperatures, low humidity and no rainfall. At night, temperatures still drop so low that a pair of long sleeve trousers and pullover must find a space in your suitcase.

In April, the highest temperature can reach over 30°C, but at night, it can drop to a cold 20°C. The average temperature is around 25°C which makes April the perfect month to visit the Gambia and still experience a part of the subtropical region’s most pleasant climate.

You will also enjoy the sunshine since the average daylight is 12 hours, and from that, 10 hours is pure sunshine. Of course, there is a possibility of a muggy day, which increases throughout the month but does not reach above 35%.

You will also be able to experience some windy days since April is supposed to have the windiest day of the year. But the speed will not reach over 15 km/h. The wind is present mainly in the coastal area, decreasing when moving inland.

In April there is almost impossible to witness a rainy day since the possibility of rain is estimated at less than 0.1%. The rainy season in The Gambia begins in late June, so April will still be pleasantly dry.

For all the swimmers, it is crucial to know the sea temperatures is still not the highest possible. The average is at 22°C. Also, due to the wind, there are big waves expected. Make sure to stick close to the shore since sea currents can be powerful in the coastal areas of The Gambia.
