In The Gambia, it is a common occurrence for men and boys to work out, either outdoors on the sandy beaches, or in local gyms. However, not everyone can afford a gym membership.

This is where Gambian resourcefulness and creativity come into play. Lack of financial resources won’t stop us from achieving our goals. My Gambia presents: the DIY dumbbell!

Using nothing more than cement, sand and a wooden or metal pole, Gambians create their own low-budget workout gear that’s just as effective as your conventional products. Gambian resourcefulness at its finest!
