The KORA 2021 Festival, will be taking place in The Gambia on the 20- 21 January 2021. Showcasing the live performances of over 50 Kora artists, groups, Gambian and African Icons and other artistes on four stages at the National Stadium, including an opening ceremony on 20 January broadcasted live on about different TV Channels, Newspapers and other medium worldwide while the artists will take stage on the 21 for life performance.

WHY THE KORA FESTIVAL?
The purpose of the festival is to promote Gambian culture, create opportunity for upcoming Gambian artists, create platform for Kora players worldwide and also to inform the world about the origin of Kora.
With less than four months to go before the ceremony, the countdown to the KORA Festival is officially on.
The event will be the first Kora festival in the Gambian soil, although one was organized not possible but not like this year event. It will be held at the National Independent Stadium for the first time and promises to deliver a succession of stand-out performances from artists from the Gambian soil and beyond.
In honour of its first birthday, KORA has added a veritable fest of musical activities to this year’s celebrations and also send the West African nation name to the world about the rich culture and synonymous to the warm welcoming of tourists. This Year KORA Festival will feature a plethora of artists on four stages performing live (January 22 and 23, 2021); and this show will showcase not only Gambia’s but Africa’s rich glamour culture and after the event Certificates will be award to the participating artists.

KORA 2nd is being staged in partnership with, the Department of Arts and Culture and the Gambia Ministry of Culture
The event is part of efforts to promote the Gambian culture internationally, also to inform the world about the 21-string instrument originated from the Gambia.
The Music and film Industry in Gambia is certainly growing, but still has a long way to go, but collectively we can make improve our music and film industry as many promoters belief.
Some years ago many were discouraged about the music industry in the Gambia but today hopes are gradually coming that our young talented artists can perform at international level if they get the home support, The Citizen Entertainment in Gambia can prove that young Gambian musicians can make it to higher level.
