Enjoy green African garden right at the ocean, Kasumai Beach Resort

Kasumai is translated as “Hello, how are you?” from Jola language of the local African tribe. You will be greeted often with these words and so it is resort welcoming you even before you find yourself in The Smiling Coast of Africa, The Gambia.

Located at Bijilo beach, Kasumai Beach Resort is a comfortable, luxury resort complex with a green African garden right on the ocean offering a different choice of accommodation for different budgets, restaurants, a bar, free parking, Wi-Fi, garden, and private beach access.   

They have 6 suites, 4 studios and 2 Queen rooms. There are also economy and standard rooms for lower budgets. Rooms are clean and well kept in a modern style, spacious and bright, especially those with a garden, pool, and ocean view. The bathroom is a dream in design especially the bathtub. The units come with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a fridge, a kettle, a shower, and a wardrobe. The rooms at the resort are fitted with a private bathroom and bed linen.

Guests at Kasumai Beach Resort can enjoy a good breakfast in the indoor restaurant or on the terrace. A range of pastries, meats, fruit salad, cooked breakfast – and freshly made to order omelettes from the chef – delicious!

If you want to have a meal beside the pool, there is Kasumai Beach restaurant and bar which is open from 8 am till late during the high season. In the rainy season, it is open from 10 am to 10 pm. You can choose from the wide range of dishes on the menu, from excellent local dishes to fish/seafood and international dishes. There is enough choice for everyone to find a perfect meal.

If you are a meat lover, then we invite you to Kasumai BBQ & Steakhouse which is attached to the hotel and shares part of the garden with the resort. You will never forget the taste of their ribs or steaks. It is one of the most famous restaurants in The Gambia when it comes to BBQ and steaks.

Starting from a romantic breakfast on the ocean and ending with a gourmet dinner with a sunset view, Kasumai restaurants will not disappoint you.

Staff are all very friendly, warm, helpful and welcoming.

On the green garden there are 2 pools (+small children pool) on green garden just few steps away from the ocean. Private pool with bubbles can be used by hotel guests and “outside guest” who want to enjoy privacy for a higher rate (GMD 500). While main pool is open to the public and costs GMD 200 per person. Therefore, it is also a very popular place to spend a day out with families for Gambians and ex-pats.

Over 60 comfortable sunbeds direct on the beach under the coconut trees are free to use. Place and sea view are amazing and nice for relaxation around the pool side or the beach.

If you want to come only to have a meal at their restaurant, there are no charges.

The location of the hotel is close to Senegambia strip, banks, restaurants, clubs, and shops. Taxis are available almost at any time.

It is also a good starting point for excursions and trips.

Kasumai Beach Resort is open for pool & beach parties, birthdays and weddings, student & school celebrations, corporate meetings & events, romantic sunset dinners and private family swimming pool parties.
