I also organize tree planting exercises, planting dwarf coconuts by Cape Point Beach with the group I’ve founded, Gambian Youths Systems Reconnecting movement. We have been undertaking such activities since last year.
We are trying to promote eco tourism in the country, since there are many POSITIVE IMPACTS OF CARING FOR OUR ENVIRONMENTS, such as:
Sustaining a healthy environment helps maintain the biodiversity within. This attracts special interest tourism like fishing, birdwatching, swimming, surfing, golfing and so on, generating income for the people. The economy of the place improves and economic situations are improved.
INCREASE OF EMPLOYMENTS:
If people are connected with their environment, a lot of employment possibilities arise, either for self employment, or working for a firm or industry.
INCREASED FOREIGN EXCHANGE:
People are especially attracted to a natural environment if it’s being looked after and already attracting other visitors from abroad. They will travel to those sites to spend their time in those attractive destinations. A cultural understanding is developed and chances for cultural exchange are provided.
SOCIAL AND COMMERCIAL BENEFITS:
Also as our environments improve our social networks benefit. Commercial sectors improve, and directly or indirectly transportation, accommodation and other services develop.
ECO FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENTS AND THE ECO SYSTEM ARE IMPROVED:
We need to keep improving our environment. Then the increased number of people that visit our eco tourism sites will promote sustainable development. We must especially take care of our natural habitats, encouraging a conducive atmosphere for wildlife and plants to thrive. This enables tourist attraction sites like game parks, monkey parks, birdwatching spots and areas for fishing and so on to function sustainably.
