Behind the lens: Barra

Barra is a village on the other side of the river Gambia from the capital, Banjul. Barra is a common transit point for those travelling from the southern part of The Gambia to the north, especially Senegal, since it is connected to the Banjul by the longest ferry route in the country. Yet Barra should not be only transit point, since it has many small jewels, which are hiding in this modest settlement.

Bojang River Lodge

The new lodge in Cape Point was project manged between Hayes Constructions and Lamin Bojang himself. Where possible they used local tradesman’s, as from the start they wanted to give employment to people within the Bakau area. They have currently built accommodation units – 6 double rooms, 2 two bed apartments and a function room but will in future develop the complex to include bantabas, a stage & restaurant, an ideal location for holding events.
